HOW IS THE EXAM PERFORMED?
After the registration form is filled out, the patient will be sent to the exam room.
In the exam room, the patient will be positioned on the stretcher of the device, and must remain lying down for about 10 minutes, without moving. If the patient is a child, it is necessary to use adhesive strip restraints. Sedation is not recommended for this type of exam.
Once positioned, a small amount of the radioactive material will be instilled into the patient’s mouth. The patient must swallow this radioactive material and sequential images will be acquired immediately afterwards. Eventually, more doses of the radioactive material will be provided to the patient during this acquisition period.
At the end of the exam, the patient will be discharged without any restrictions.
