PREPARATION:
HOW IS THE EXAM PERFORMED?
After filling out the registration form at the reception, the patient will undergo a brief clinical interview to check their data, and then will be sent to the rest room, where a peripheral vein will be punctured and maintained with saline solution.
A small amount of the radioactive material (18F-Florbetaben) will be injected into the vein and the patient should remain at rest for approximately 1 hour.
At the end of resting period, the patient will be sent to the examination room for image acquisition. The duration of this stage of the exam is around 15 to 20 minutes.
During image acquisition, the patient needs to remain still, without moving their head.
Then the patient will be discharged without any restrictions.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Patient collaboration is essential for good image acquisition. The patient cannot move their head during this stage of the exam.
Patients who are breastfeeding should suspend breastfeeding for 24 hours after the procedure.
If the patient has sodium or alcohol restrictions, they should notify the nuclear physician.
