PREPARATION:
HOW IS THE EXAM PERFORMED?
After filling out the registration form at the reception, the patient will undergo a brief clinical interview to check their data and then be sent to the exam room.
In the examination room, the patient will be positioned on the device’s gurney, and should remain lying down for about 30 minutes.
Once positioned in the equipment, a venipuncture will be performed, preferably of the forearm, and a small amount of radioactive material will be injected through this route.
Several images will be acquired during the urinary bladder filling phase.
At the end of the acquisition, the patient will be instructed to get up from the stretcher and should sit on an appropriate stool with a reservoir in front of the equipment. After proper positioning on the stool, the patient will be instructed to urinate in the reservoir. Images will also be acquired during this urination phase.
In the case of children, they may have be to restrained by use of velcro straps. This is necessary so that there is no motion interference during image acquisition.
At the end of the exam, the patient will be discharged without any restrictions.
